Press Conference of “Survey on Labor Mobility of Macau Citizens 2021”

Organized by MMA, sponsored by Macau Foundation, the press conference of “Survey on Labor Mobility of Macau Citizens 2021” was held on December 14 (Tuesday), hosted by Mr. Tommy Lau, Council Chairman of MMA, Dr. Samuel Tong, President of MIM as well as Ms. Rain Lok, Manager of Training & Consultancy Division. Mr. Raymond Bao, Vice-Chairman and Honorary Treasurer of MMA, Mr. Chan Chak Mo, Vice Chairman of MMA and Mr. Lei Kit Chi, Council Member attended the conference.

A total of 1,016 valid questionnaires of survey were obtained, the survey reveals that epidemic makes a trouble influence to employment environment. Over 20% of respondents have been currently in unemployed or furlough, which shows the rising trend compare with previous year, respondents got promotion chance and their salary level were declined in the meantime, it has been contributed to respondents' low intention to change their jobs by various elements. The survey also shows that more than half of all respondents with no clear career planning.

In addition, over 30% respondents have no idea and relevant awareness to the development policies of Greater Bay Area, only 18.21% of them are willing to work in the cities of Greater Bay Area. The survey recommends the government shall strengthen collaboration among enterprises and educational institutions, creating more employment chance in Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, employees have to improve their skills; likewise, enterprises need to offer fair opportunities and competitive compensation for employees as well.
